Contest of the Gifted Children

The Head of Department of Education of Yerevan Municipality O. Vatyan hands out certificates to the winners of the "Gifted Children" contest.

In 1996 an intention arose in the college which later grew and became a nice tradition. It refers to the contest of the gifted children. It is held with the help of the united efforts of "Quantum" college, Yerevan State University and the Department of Education of Yerevan Municipality. The main purpose of the contest is to reveal talented children and to sponsor them later on. Students of the 6th and 7th grades take part in it. The contest is held with two stages and the students’ knowledge in Mathematics is checked with the help of the written test (stage 1) and the interview (stage 2). As a result the best students are chosen and they get a scholarship to study in the college without tuition. The committee of the contest is formed from the first-rate specialists of "Quantum" college and Yerevan State University. Many of the winners of the contest later fill in the rows of the college Olympiad groups and show good results in Olympiads, An interesting thing has been noticed: the winners of the contest usually are not the students of Yerevan schools which have good reputation and very good traditions, but the students who come from different regions of the country.
